Perhaps it’s a global warming protest rally?

 

I love to play each week at the Pals Paper Arts (PPA).  The theme for their challenge this week is “Snowflakes”.  Instead of doing a card with individual snowflakes I chose to assemble my snowflakes in the form of snowmen.  Watercoloring my image was super easy using Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Wonder Crayons and a Blender pen.  The fun paper is from The Write Stuff Specialty set.  Fun, fun, fun!

HAITIAN DISASTER RELIEF

I love you, cupcake

 

Today is another is my series of “stamp free” cards.  To make this sweet treat I used my Big Shot (which is my #1 go to tool in my studio) and the Big Bold Cupcakes Sizzlit die set.  The base of the cupcake is crimped to look like a paper cupcake cup.  To make the “sprinkles” I first covered a small square of Real Red card stock with 2-way glue; then I poured on the Red glitter.  After giving it some time to dry, I shock off the excess glitter and then I used the 1/16” Circle and Double Rectangle punches to get the shapes that I wanted.  The “sprinkles” are adhered to the top of the cupcake with Anywhere Glue Stick.  I used a white gel pen for the scalloped trim, but first I made a template using 1/2” circles to create the scalloped look that I was going for.  Yummy…

PPA26 ~ Sweet Pea mini tote bag with note cards

 

This week the challenge over at Pals Paper Arts is “Anything BUT a card” so I decided to embellish a little canvas tote bag that I found at one of the hobby and craft stores.  My embellishments are from the new Sweet Pea Stitched Felt collection (aren’t they cute?) which is in the new Occasions Mini.  I used Aleens’s Tacky Glue to adhere them to the canvas.  Be sure to give the glue plenty of time to dry so the felt pieces will adhere properly.  I left my project to dry overnight, but I’m sure it didn’t even take half that time.  Once the glue was dry I tucked my 5 little note cards and coordinating envelopes inside and tomorrow I’m hoping it will bring a smile to a close friend who has been feeling more then a little stressed lately.

Happy Birthday, Human!

 

Today I’m sharing another one of my “stamp free” cards.  My cute little robot guy is from the So Cool rub-ons set.  I think the Shimmery White paper that I used looks very cool. The other card stock is Whisper White, Going Gray and Storybook Specialty paper.  Add a small piece of Certainly Celery satin ribbon and a Star brad and the card is complete.  Card making at the speed of light!

Bermuda, Bahama come on pretty mama…

 

Oops, sorry about that ~ you caught me taking a little mini vacation!  It’s time to warm things up a bit so I decided to play around with Bermuda Bay.  For fun I added just a touch of Apricot Appeal, but I kept my card Clean & Simple.  My Big Shot went into action to make the little flowers and the scoring blade on my paper cutter embossed the Whisper White rectangle that the flowers are resting on.  I stamped the sentiment using Bermuda Bay ink and faster then a Jamaican drives a car in Montego Bay, this card was done!  No problem mon…relax.

A challenge for myself this week

I decided that this week I would make a set of 5 greeting cards made with anything but a stamp set.  My Big Shot, Rub-ons, Designer Series Paper and embellishments were all fair game.

 

My first card is a thank you card made by snipping out a flower and leaf from a sheet out of the Sweet Pea Designer Series paper set – I used part of the same sheet as the main background for the card.  Cards like this one are a wonderful way to use those little left over pieces of paper that I just can’t seem to throw away.  A small strip of Old Olive card stock was used to make the stem, a little piece of Rose Red card stock took a trip through the new Scallop border punch and a small rectangle of Sahara Sand became the canvas for my flower.  The new Chat Room rub-ons provided the sentiment; then I added a couple of flowers from the Flower Fusion embellishment set and two So Saffron brads to complete the card.

Very Thankful - Mojo Monday 122

It’s time to get your Mojo on and this time it’s extra special because the sketch was designed by Mary Fish, my fabulous friend and mentor!  I thought she did an excellent job on the sketch and I couldn’t wait to see what I could create with it.

 

Today’s card is very special in another way too.  I stamped the main image of the super sweet turtle pulling his wagon load of hearts using the Very Thankful stamp set.  For every Very Thankful set that is purchased Stampin’ Up! donates $2 to Ronald McDonald House Charities. Finally…PPA25!

Wow, there for awhile I thought that I was going to have to pass this delicious challenge by due to technical problems with my camera, but it’s fixed and all is well! 

 

Have you seen the photo that was the inspiration for this challenge?  Can you say yummy?  This photo reminds me of the handmade chocolates that my mother-in-law and her sisters make every year at Christmas time.  Yeah, those little goodies don’t last for very long!

The Scalloped border going around all sides of the Real Red square really make this card pop!  I did some other fun things with this card.  For starters, I ran a small piece of Very Vanilla card stock through my Big Shot using the Movers and Shapers label die to create a place for my love birds to land.  Other fun things include using the Sending Love Designer Series paper to create a coordinating button and envelope, Real Red Satin ribbon, Chat Room rub-ons and I used two of the tiny little hearts that are “left-over” from the Pinking Hearts border punch as “brads”.

Time to Blossom

 

I have a very dear friend who is starting on a new and exciting journey in life.  Laura’s new calling is something that she is truly passionate about and something that I believe she was put on this earth to do.  When I first heard of Laura’s new adventure I knew I just had to make this card for her.  I’m so darned excited for her!

 

This card uses the Bloomin’ Beautiful stamp set, Whisper White and Always Artichoke card stock, Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper, Stampin’ Up! watercolor crayons and gold embossing power.  To glitz it up a bit I added four gold brads and some Always Artichoke ribbon.

It’s the Pals January Blog Hop…

  Love is in the air!  The Stampin’ Up! Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Bration catalogs are sure to warm the hearts of any paper crafter.  My first set of projects feature Designer Series Paper from the Sweet Pea collection, Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon, Full Heart, Small Heart and Pinking Hearts punches, Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslits Die, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder and the I (Heart) Hearts and Well Scripted stamp sets. 

Tucked inside the adorable little matchbox is a Simply Adorned Bracelet and 5/8” circle charm.  

  

Sending Love Designer Series Paper leads the way in my second set of projects.  The Bag with Scallops was cut using my Big Shot and it has 10 Dove chocolates inside.  A bow tied with Whisper White Organza Ribbon and it’s ready to go!  The card is Kraft card stock, Chat Room rub-ons, Happy Moments stamp set, three Real Red brads, buttons from Playground, Sherbet and Latte sets, some Red Gingham ribbon for the bow and Linen thread for the buttons.  I used an Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write marker and watercolor crayon for the flower stems and leaves.
